[Leipzig : Martin Landsberg, 1505?].
CONTENT:
Copy is part of a Sammelband probably reflecting the curriculum of an early modern gymnasium or university.
Edited with commentary by Johannes Honorius Crispus (ca. 1450-1504) of Leipzig, about whom very little seems to be known. The preface dedicates the work from Honorius to "his disciple" Cristoforo Ursino of Krakow, who is again addressed in a rather heartfelt post-script on the final leaf.
Last two pages contain a poetic 'Exhortatio' by the Italian Humanist Ludovico Pittorio.

Colophon: Excudebant Lugduni Melchior et Gaspar Trechsel fratres, 1536.
CONTENT:
These were at first abridged adaptations for children, with French glossaries, of Lazare de Baif's scholarly treatises on Roman antiquities. This is the first title in the series, compiled from Baif's original Basel edition of 1526, and deals with ancient Roman dress--from hats and bonnets to shoes and sandals, with a section on carpets and rugs, as well as one on colors of wools and clothes.
The "vulgaris linguae interpretatio" consists of giving the French equivalent of the Latin terms for the items of clothing and materials described.
Copy has manuscript annotations in unknown hands.
Abridged for young people by Charles Estienne.
