Each print also bears a moralizing couplet by Cornelis Kiliaan, highlighting a particular example of female virtue, and apparently intended as an aide-memoire for memorizing the Biblical stories of each woman. Victoria University Library copy is a crisp impression of suite of "exemplary women" of the Old Testament. The present impression is the first state of three, before the plates of Eve, Leah, Tamar, Rahab, Jael, Ruth, Judith, Esther, and Susanna were censored due to their bare chests or low-cut dresses. The title-plate is in Hollstein's second state, with the address of Philips' son Theodore Galle.
