Inscriptions of Henrie and James Wardlam, some of which are in an early hand, others are copies.
PROVENANCE:
Inside cover has CRRS bookplate with the typed name of David Hoeniger. Large bookplate from the House of Abercairny.
BINDING:
Copy Specific Notes: Binding: Dark Brown calf damaged and worn with broken clasps still present. Spine has Holinshed's Chronicles in gold.
CONDITION:
CRRS copy imperfect: Vol. 1 lacks 2 leaves of preliminaries and 2 prelim. leaves and errata to The historie of Scotland. Vol. 2 lacks t.p., prelim. leaf, p. 291-2, p. 303-4, the extra leaf in sig. Eeee headed Names of the Knights made at Leith and the folded plan of the Siege of Edinburgh Castle in sig. Yyyy.
Leaves: Cropped, some affecting text. First two gatherings heavily damaged. Some stains found throughout.

MARGINALIA:
Extensive printed marginalia.
Both front and back covers have extensive number of handwritten notes, autographs and doodles. One of the names has a date of 1666. See pages Des. Engl: 64, 102; His Eng: 12, 49, 79, 113, 152-3, 212, 218, 225, 230, 269. Des. Sco. 1-22 His. Sco. 312, 449-453 etc.
