There is a typed note written by the former book vendor: Gesualdo is regarded as one of the most useful commentators. Reprinted from earlier Gesualdo editions, this has the Vellutello illustrations from the Giolito edition: the elaborate initials for which the press was famous: portraits of Petrarch and Laura on an urn which is topped with the Giolito phoenix; and the two elaborately decorated titles (A separate title for The Triumphs) with phoenixes, griffons, cherubs, and caryatids.
