Leather (calfskin) over pasteboards. The spine has been re-backed. Six ribs on spine. Headband and tailband present. Flatbacked.
Binding -- leather near the re-backed spine is peeling up. Corners of the boards are a bit frayed.
Pages -- some folded-in corners and some damage to the edges of pages near the end of the book. Engraved title page and first gather are coming a bit loose.

Handwritten Notes: A3v -- two sets of three lines in bright blue ink.
The book is separated into two sections. The first and largest section is attributed to Ulisse Aldrovandi. The second section is an addition to Aldrovandi’s work by Bartolomeo Ambrosini.
CRRS bookplate on inner pastedown. Call number D4 Al.9 3906K written on inner pastedown. CRRS call number QH 313 .A47 1658 Large CRRS RARE written on †1r, CRRS stamp on colophon. This copy seems to have come from the same collection as QL 362 A47 1638 and QL 666 06 A47 1640 due to similarities in binding.
