Though this copy of Quintus Curtius’s History of Alexander the Great has been rebound in the modern era, the fragments of the music it was originally bound in are still visible along the spine and in the edges of the front and back cover. Earlier generations of book collectors privileged having matching sets of bindings rather than conserving the original bindings of books.
