Iustini Historia ex Trogo Pompeio quattuor & triginta epithomatis collecta
Marcus Junianus Justinus (2nd Century). Iustini Historia ex Trogo Pompeio quattuor & triginta epithomatis collecta. Edited by Marcus Antonius Coccius Sabellicus (1436–1506). Paris: Iehan Petit, not before 1507.
The parchment used to cover this copy of Justin’s Epitome has held up remarkably well. The fading ink makes the writing itself difficult to identify but it is most likely from Psalm 40 in Latin: “in id ipsum adversum me susurrabant omnes inimici mei adversus me cogitabant mala mihi.” This is translated in the King James Version as, “all that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt.”
